Anti-landslide barriers are becoming one of the most effective systems, both technically and economically, to protect roads and infrastructure from landslides that may occur in very large areas where direct action is much more expensive.
The evolution of these barriers has been remarkable, from traditional fixed barriers to current dynamic high energy absorption barriers, which are able to dissipate stone impacts of up to 8,000 kJ, thanks to the deformation of its elements.
To optimize a barrier’s effectiveness, it is necessary to carry out an initial study, based on the experience and with the help of modern computer techniques and methods in order to:

– Calculate fall speeds.
– Predict the most likely routes
– Know the energies which will need to be dissipated.
